GARAGE STORAGE & ORGANIZATION TIPS FOR HOLIDAY DECORATIONS

Set a goal this year to create a solid garage storage system for your holiday decorations. A little time spent now will save you hours of hassle next year.
SORT & PACK SENSIBLY
The first thing you need to do is sort your holiday decorations. If you only have a couple of huge tubs that hold an entire year’s worth of decorations, you likely have a struggle every season to find what you need. Instead of using large storage boxes for your decorations, aim to keep it smaller and simple. Purchase a number of clear plastic bins for your holiday ornaments, lighting, flowers/wreathes/greenery.
Label them with the name of the holiday and whether they are indoor or outdoor decorations. That way, you know exactly where to find the bin you are looking for.
String Lights: Face it, you’re never going to get those strands back in the box they came in. To avoid a knotted mess next year, wrap the light strands around an empty roll of paper towels, or an empty roll of wrapping paper. Then, they will unravel easily whenever you need them. This approach also works for garlands, beads, and other long, tangle-prone decorations.
WHERE TO STORE THE HOLIDAY DÉCOR
Since you go several months between taking down these items and putting them back up, they do not need a prominent place in your garage year-round. Use tall garage cabinetry and overhead storage to keep your holiday storage protected and out of the way.
TALL GARAGE CABINETS
Take a look at your garage walls. Do you have prime real estate that is not utilized to the greatest extent? You could install garage storage cabinets to store several bins on each shelf. That way, you de-clutter your home and decrease your risk of tripping over something in the dark. Custom Garage cabinetry and professional installation gives you exactly what you are looking for: shelving that is the right height and depth, with finishes to match your style. And, cabinet doors hide your clutter to make your garage look nice and tidy.
OVERHEAD STORAGE
Now, look up at the garage ceiling. Given that standard garages have a minimum height of 9’-11’, you likely have a lot of unused space above your head for additional garage storage. Our professionally installed “grade garage” overhead storage racks help you safely store your Holiday decorations with easy access when you need them.
Taking down decorations is a chore that most people do not particularly enjoy. But, with a little planning, you can make the job a lot easier.
